CELEBRATING WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH: Honouring Dyspraxic Women
March is Women's History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women throughout history. While many well-known figures are rightfully recognised during this time, it is equally important to highlight the experiences of those whose voices are often overlooked, such as dyspraxic women.

Historically, women with dyspraxia have been underrepresented in both research and public discourse. Due to the gender bias in neurodivergent diagnoses, many girls and women go undiagnosed or receive their diagnoses later in life. This can lead to a lack of support and self-understanding, making their achievements even more remarkable.
Dyspraxic women have found ways to navigate a world that often does not accommodate their needs, excelling in areas such as the arts, education, activism, and advocacy.
DYSPRAXIC WOMEN LEADING THE WAY
Notably, within the dyspraxic community, it is mostly dyspraxic women leading the way in raising awareness. They do so in a variety of ways, including writing books, creating public online spaces, organising in-person events and running charities.
While there are men in these positions, the number of women actively pushing for change and recognition is significantly higher. Their dedication to advocacy has played a crucial role in fostering understanding and support for dyspraxia, ensuring that the voices of dyspraxic individuals are heard and valued.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the dyspraxic community is its resilience. Dyspraxic women are redefining success by embracing their unique ways of thinking and problem-solving. Many have used their lived experiences to advocate for greater awareness, creating safe spaces for others to share their stories. Whether it’s through writing, public speaking, or creating inclusive policies, these women are ensuring that the next generation has a more supportive environment in which to thrive.
This Women's History Month, let’s take the time to celebrate and amplify the voices of dyspraxic women. Their stories of perseverance, innovation, and advocacy deserve recognition. By sharing their experiences, we continue to challenge misconceptions, foster understanding, and inspire future generations of dyspraxic women to embrace their strengths and make their mark on the world.
