Stories from the Dyspraxic Community — written to raise awareness, inspire understanding and share lived experiences.
What is it really like to live with dyspraxia?
This unique collection of short stories brings together writers from the dyspraxic community, each drawing on their own experiences of living with dyspraxia/DCD (Developmental Coordination Disorder).
From imaginative fairytales and fictional adventures to stories inspired by real-life experiences, every contributor has found their own way to explore what it means to be dyspraxic. Each story is presented as it was written with no editing.
Dyspraxia/DCD is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that can affect coordination, movement, organisation, concentration, memory, communication and many aspects of everyday life. Despite being relatively common, it remains one of the least understood conditions, and many people still don't fully understand the challenges — or the strengths — that can come with being dyspraxic.
These stories offer something different: personal insight through storytelling. They provide a window into experiences that may otherwise be difficult to explain and help readers see dyspraxia from a more personal perspective.
Whether you are dyspraxic yourself, know someone who is, or simply want to learn more, this collection offers stories to enjoy, reflect on and share.
All profits from this book will go towards funding dyspraxia awareness campaigns through Dyspraxia Magazine.
Read the stories. Hear the experiences. Help raise awareness.
